Only two CTA rail lines run 24 hours a day: red and blue. Service on the other rail lines ends by 1:30 a.m. or sooner depending on the line. Here’s what else you should know:

Blue Line

The 24-hour blue line travels to and from O’Hare International Airport. If you are arriving or departing Chicago overnight or very early in the morning, you will always be able to get to and from downtown Chicago via train if you use this airport.

View hotels nears near the blue line if you are looking for a place to stay and the Blue Line Guide for popular destinations and neighborhoods.

Red Line

The CTA red line also operates 24 hours a day and stops at popular Chicago areas including Magnificent Mile, Loop, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Wrigley Field as well as the far north and south sides. Although the red line does not connect directly to an airport, you can transfer from red to blue at the Jackson Station in order to get to and from O’Hare.

River North/Magnificent Mile hotels and other accommodations along the red line can be reached via train at any time of day if you are looking for flexibility while visiting the city. View the Red Line Guide to learn more about attractions and things to do near stations.
