The CTA red line is a popular and busy rail line that travels from Chicago’s South Side to Museum Campus, the Loop and to the North Side near the lakefront. Learn more about red line schedules and nearby destinations below.
The red line operates 24 hours a day. Frequency is every 2 to 15 minutes with trains most frequent during morning weekday rush hour and least frequent in the middle of the night and on Sundays.
Parking is available only at the Howard CTA Station on the north side.
The following red line stations ARE NOT handicap accessible: Jarvis, Morse, Thorndale, Bryn Mawr, Berwyn, Argyle, Lawrence, Wilson, Sheridan, North/Clybourne, Monroe and Harrison.

Things to Know
- If you’re traveling to Midway International Airport, you can transfer to the orange line at the Roosevelt Station (handicap accessible).
- If traveling to O’Hare, transfer to the blue line at the handicap-accessible Jackson (Red) Station.
